At St. Ambrose, we aim to deliver a high-quality English curriculum that gives children the best possible opportunities to become confident, literate, successful members of society with a deep love and understanding of the English language and literature. We believe the development of Literacy skills is central to improving a child’s life chances.
In all year groups, we teach writing through the high-quality texts our children use in their reading lessons, texts which have been carefully chosen to be diverse and inclusive. In Reception and Key Stage 1, pupils are taught through ‘Talk through Stories’ and in Key Stage 2 pupils are taught through the Ark English Mastery Curriculum.
Over their time at our school, children will write a variety of fiction and non-fiction texts, for a range of different purposes and audiences.
